The DAC report is comprised of several main sections: employment record, which include accidents/incidents; drug and alcohol testing; criminal history; a motor vehicle report; and inquiries. This month I will go into more detail regarding the DAC report, focusing on the employment record and how it reflects on you as a driver.
The employment history section provides important information regarding the driver’s history with carriers. The section contains basic information on the driver. Next you’ll see the name, address and phone number of the reporting carrier. The next piece of information is the date this information was furnished by the carrier, which is usually provided within 3-5 days after leaving the carrier. Under employment history is some very specific information about the driver and his/her experience such as Over the Road or Regional and the current CDL number/issuing state.
The Reason for leaving is next and may state: resigned/quit (driver terminated lease), resigned/quite during orientation/training, or discharged. The driver’s status is provided: Lease Purchase Program, Company Driver, or Owner/Operator. Driver’s Experience shows the type of driving the driver is qualified for, such as mountain. Equipment Operated: refrigerated, dry box, etc. Loads Hauled: general commodity, refrigerated, etc.
The most important section is Work Record, which reflects the driver’s performance during their employment with the carrier. This may state Satisfactory, Co. Terminal w/Notice, Late Pickup/Delivery, No Show, Excessive Complaints, Company Policy Violation, Unauthorized Equip. Use, Quit/Dismissed during Training/Orientation/Probation. Now you can start to understand why DACfix.com prepares numerous disputes centered on this area of the DAC report. I encourage to get your DAC report and use this article to help you understand the various items contained in the employment record. Next month we’ll review accidents/incidents, so keep that DAC report handy!
